Making flooring for a large dollhouse

This dollhouse is very large, so I needed to come up with a reasonably priced method for creating flooring.  I found bamboo place-mats at the dollar store and they were held together with string...cut the strings, and you have thin bamboo strips.  Perfect!

I cut them in various lengths and glued them (Elmer's wood glue!) on thick cardboard to the size of the room.  The pattern is random on a diagonal.  I decided to use a dark stain (Minwax Gel - Walnut colour) and high gloss to finish it off.  This floor is 23" x 14".
